Nian gao
Ingredients
400 grams of Glutinous rice flour
½ cup of Brown sugar
210 milliliters of Boiling water
1 tablespoon of Milk
Water
Sesame seeds
Preparation
Step 1 : In a pot, place a few tablespoons of water and bring to a boil.
Step 2 : Once it starts boiling, add the brown sugar and let it cook until the sugar dissolves.
Step 3 : Allow to cool.
Step 4 : In a large bowl, place the flour forming a volcano shape.
Step 5 : In the center, pour the water with sugar and the milk.
Step 6 : Mix and gradually add water until a workable dough forms.
Step 7 : On a clean, floured surface with rice flour, roll out the dough.
Step 8 : Place parchment paper in the steaming pot and cook the dough for 50 minutes.
Step 9 : To remove the cake, help with a plate, turn it over, and remove the paper.
Step 10 : Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve.
